Hello everyone,
We have a lot going on over the next couple of weeks so I will do my best to keep you updated. Please keep reading as I have information about the PAC (boundary) study a little further down.
School Fundraiser
I mentioned in a previous email that we will be doing a school fundraiser during Read Across America week. Some of you may be thinking we already had a fundraiser in the fall, why are we asking for more money? Well, the fall carnival is the PTA fundraiser, and that money does not go directly to the school. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing PTA who does provide us with a lot, but it is all for ancillary services, like the school musical, field trips, art programs, etc. The PTA money cannot be used for updating things around our school, hence the need for a school fundraiser.
Your fundraising efforts this time around will help us in getting supplies that will enhance your student’s educational experience, while also supporting the needs of our teachers. We are hoping to raise enough money to upgrade technology in our classrooms and to start building a STEM lab. We so appreciate you and the support we get from our community. We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have such an amazing support system.
I have attached flyers with more info about the fundraiser to this email. Your students will also be coming home today with the flyers in their backpacks. Please get your student registered online to participate in our fundraiser and to earn cool prizes, ASAP!
Read Across America/ Dr. Seuss Week
Starting on Monday, March 3rd, we will be celebrating Read Across America week. Our school fundraiser is themed around this and will culminate with a read-athon on Friday, March 7th. Please view the attached flyer to know what our upcoming dress-up days are. We are going to have a week of fun focused on reading and the joy it brings!
Please save the date for Books and Bagels on Tuesday, March 4th at 8:15 in the school gym. Bring your student and a book, and come enjoy the company of our community, some guest readers, and of course, bagels. See you there!
PAC Study
When our area’s boundary study was announced, I promised you that I will be transparent and keep you in the loop. With that, I’d like to offer my apologies as the inundation of information is just beginning. You may get sick of me and my emails soon 🤪. Our Granite School District board member, Julie Jackson, will be at our School Community Council meeting on Friday, February 28th at 3:00. I am anticipating a large turnout for this meeting, so we will be holding it in the gym. Julie’s intentions are to give you an opportunity to ask questions that you may have. My intentions during the meeting are to keep a running list of all questions that are asked as well as Julie’s answers to those questions. I will share that list with you all in the following week’s community email. I have also set up a Microsoft Teams meeting for anyone that is not able to attend in person. Here is a link to join the Teams meeting @ 3 on Friday: https://tinyurl.com/UplandSCC Anyone participating in the Teams meeting is welcome to type questions for Julie in the chat box and I will ask those for you.
The district has also released the website where they will keep all boundary study information. It is https://www.graniteschools.org/planning/ . From there, you can click on the link that says, “Current 2025 Study and Data- Area 5” and that is where all updates and info will be. On this webpage, they also have a feedback link for patrons to ask questions/ leave comments. This link is the best way to have your voice heard. I am including the feedback link here for easy access for you in case things come up that you want answered. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSefCRSGbzIcTmpx-evfCdGDUeULUJ50BMf8LenZ1aOJWRhZXA/viewform
There are patron open houses happening on March 19th and 26th and all are welcome to attend. I have attached the invite for those open houses to this email as well.
