We had the crosswalk report. We cannot walk students because then we are liable.
Where are visitors going to park, when the clinic is done they can park past it.
Unleveling of classes. The teachers are pushing back a bit about it. Some of the parents also have concerns. We are going to revisit the issue and decide.
Switching around land trust monies.
Trent would like to move $20,000 from aides to supplies (tech). Becky made a motion, and Holly seconded, it passed
We have $76,000 for salaries. We are hoping to create a 7th grade academy for next year. Focus on organization, i.e. the AVID skills. Having this money for salaries would make it possible. Becky made a motion, and Holly seconded, it passed.
We would like to keep the same plan from this year to next year, including the growth percentage. Motion was made, Becky seconded, it carried.

Karen Winder was made school board president.
Karen Quan is a representative in the state legislator and visiting.
The people who are going to present on the crosswalk problems are not able to come. They did put a light but that is not too helpful. The south parking lot is ready to go except for signage. As soon as signs go up we can open it up, and close the north parking lot.
Our school grade review; 2016-17 was a really rough year due to deaths and sick teachers.
Last year was big growth, math had huge growth.
Last night in leadership meeting they set goals for end of year testing. Last year math sat with every student and showed them where they were and what they needed to do to grow. That was helpful, and with be perfect for PBG (progress towards graduation).
Land trust usage, last year it was geared towards math and reading. It was written to focus on those but left open to other usage. We are hoping to use the rest of the funds for para educators. We met the goal we set for land trust, it was growth. For next year we will get $73,000.
A question was brought up about how to change the mindset of Valley JH’s reputation. It starts with those in this room, be positive share out our successes. This year is the 70 year party, we can do a lot with that. There is a lot we have to celebrate.

It was moved to change funds from getting extra periods from half time teachers because we must honor the time next year. It was moved to fund additional aids for classrooms.
It was brought up about snitching, the district is moving away from bully box and towards the SafeUT app. Can we put that on the student Chromebook?
We have two guest speakers one from WVCPD and one from the city planning over school. How do we get additional lighting? When will the new roundabout open? The city will send out a guy to assess the situation. We need to inform the parents that school crosswalks are curb to curb no half way. In the round about kick off we need to teach this law. Most issues are cause by parents not non-parent commuters. The Guest are invited back to our next meeting to let us know how the assessment went. The flashing lights are on a timer.
We are going to offer breakfast starting next year.
We want to move advisory to first period, Trent proposed the change and it was seconded, it passed. This way they can eat during announcements and not miss instructional time. The district is not sub-contracting food anymore, the district is running the program. What will happen to the extra food? Will we have a sharing table, or box that other can dip into?
We will set up a link for training videos.
