Valley Ligers,

Please see the following link for more information.
Hello Valley Parents and Students
This week we begin our home stretch for the school year as we have five weeks left.
We are two weeks into our RISE Testing and appreciate students doing their best on the exams. We will continue to test this week on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Please remember to get a good night’s rest and breakfast on those mornings for all students. We do have breakfast that is available for free to all students this year between 7:20 and 7:40 in the cafeteria.
This week is our school musical production of Beauty and the Beast. The show runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 per person at the door. The students have been working hard to make it a great show and we encourage you to come out and support the show.
There is NO SCHOOL this Friday as it is a teacher work day.
Speaking of our teachers, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week! PLEASE consider sending an email or note to your child’s teachers and thanking them for all that they do for the students. We have some great teachers at Valley and we appreciate them each and every day.
We wanted to give parents a heads up on what the end of the year looks like as well.
Monday, May 30 is a holiday with no school.
Tuesday, May 31 will be the last day that students will attend each of their classes. Also in the afternoon we will have the annual teachers vs students soccer game outside in the afternoon.
Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday June 2 are reward activity days for all students that are eligible to participate based on good behavior and attendance that has not resulted in any school discipline during the month of May (no out of school suspensions, overnight suspensions or after school detentions). Students that are not eligible to participate in the reward activities will still have the opportunity to attend school and participate in alternate learning activities.
Wednesday will be teacher vs student volleyball and basketball games in the gym. Students will be invited to watch based on the low number of tardies in May. The afternoon will be a signing party on the field with kickball and other activities planned.
Thursday, June 2 is the last day of school and will be our Summer Fest and field day. School ends at 12:00 and busses leave for the last time at 12:05.
Thanks for your continued support of the students and staff at Valley Junior High!

Welcome to the start of 4th quarter.
Things are going to be coming quick now that Spring has arrived.
A reminder that Spring Break is next week and there is NO School April 4-8.
The Liger Chase is this Friday after lunch.
Valley is currently looking for a music teacher for next year for two periods a day. If you know someone that may be interested please have them call the school and ask for Mr. Nielsen.
Finally we want to congratulate our amazing custodial team for earning the highest level possible on their building inspection this spring. We sure appreciate all that they do for the students, staff and school community.
Dear Valley Parents,
This coming week at Valley we have many events and activities to pass along to you.
Monday February 7 –
Today our 7th grade students will be completing their course selection cards for next year.
Our 8th grade students will be attending an assembly with representatives from the Granite Technical Institute (GTI). The GTI provides some great opportunities for students in Granite to take Career and Technical Education courses. Because we are taking care of registration for the 2022-23 school year this next week, we want to make sure our 8th graders know some of the options that are available to them.
Tuesday February 8 –
Parents are invited to our PTA meeting at 2:00 and Community Council Meeting at 2:30.
Also on Tuesday we will be hosting another Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic in our gymnasium from 3:30 – 6:30. Vaccines are available for anyone age 5 and up (parents must be present for minors to receive vaccine). They accommodate 1st dose, 2nd dose, 3rd dose, pediatric dose and booster doses. It is organized by the Salt Lake County Health department.
Wednesday February 9 –
Our 8th Grade students will be completing their registration cards with counselors from Granger High School.
Parent Teacher Conferences are available today via zoom. If you would like to sign up for the virtual conference, please sign up at https://pickatime.com/granitesd
Thursday February 10 –
Parent Teacher Conferences will be in-person this evening from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The teachers will be in their individual classrooms. We encourage parents to come with their student.
Friday February 11 –
There is No School on Friday due to the Parent Teacher Conferences this week for teachers. Enjoy a wonderful three day weekend.
We look forward to parent teacher conferences and engaging with our students and families this week. If we can be of any assistance, please let us know.
Sincerely,
