Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows: scheduled conferences, email, phone, written notes.<br \/>\nProvide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows: SEP conference, via email, scheduled appointment, before or after school.<br \/>\nProvide opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>PARENTS AGREE TO:<br \/>\nWe, as parents, will support our children\u2019s learning in the following ways:<br \/>\nEnsure that their children attend school regularly.<br \/>\nMonitor homework assignments.<br \/>\nRead to\/with their child for twenty minutes daily.<br \/>\nVolunteer in their child\u2019s classroom as time permits.<br \/>\nParticipate in school decisions as they relate to their child\u2019s education by serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups.<br \/>\nMonitor their child\u2019s screen time.<br \/>\nEnsure that their children get proper rest and nutrition.<br \/>\nAttend parent-teacher conferences.<br \/>\nReturn school communication in a timely manner.<br \/>\nContribute to a safe school environment within and around the school. Parents are the initial teachers of their children and serve as partners with the district in helping their children achieve academic success.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and family members are involved in the development of the school parent and family engagement policy. At Walker Elementary we involve our stakeholders by sharing our school\u2019s vision, reviewing data, setting school goals, and looking at school-wide needs during the annual Title 1 meeting as well as regularly scheduled School Community Council meetings.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Annual Meeting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>An annual Title 1 meeting is held each year in the Fall. At this meeting, information is shared with stakeholders that consists of an explanation of Title I, how funds are allocated, student performance in literacy and math, intervention and enrichment opportunities for students, and ways that stakeholders engage with the school. You may find information about our annual meeting on our school website.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Flexible Meetings\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>We offer flexible meeting times for parents and families to participate in decisions regarding their child.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Involve Parents\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We collect data from stakeholder input surveys and input from SCC and PTA meetings. Once data is collected, we review the data and assess needs. We partner with parents in using this information to create a plan as to how we involve parents.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SHARED RESPONSIBILITY \u2013 HIGH STUDENT ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Olene Walker Elementary School Parent Family Compact outlines shared responsibilities for high student academic achievement and success.<\/p>\n<p>Olene Walker Elementary will involve parents in the process of school review and improvement, including: sharing achievement data with parents, inviting input from parents regarding LEA and school academic goals, discussing scientifically-based research instructional practices, and giving direction in securing research-based curriculum materials that align with goals.<\/p>\n<p>Walker Elementary will provide quality parent and family engagement activities. Current initiatives include use of Class DOJO to regularly communicate classroom happenings and share student goals and growth, parent-teacher conferences, proficiency-based learning, home visits, and Community Center programs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>BUILDING CAPACITY FOR INVOLVEMENT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To improve academic achievement and to ensure effective involvement of parents, Olene Walker Elementary School will:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Share with parents reports that measure students\u2019 performance relative to grade-level standards, explain ways parents can monitor their student\u2019s academic success, and have parent teacher conferences, home visits, back to school nights, literacy nights, math nights, and family engagement nights.<\/li>\n<li>Provide materials and\/or training for parents to work with their child to improve their child\u2019s achievement such as literacy home learning kits.<\/li>\n<li>Provide professional development for administrators, teachers, and instructional support personnel on the value of parents as equal partners and building ties between parents and the school.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate parent involvement programs and activities with other Federal, State, and local programs that encourage and support parents in more fully participating in the education of their children.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>ACCESSIBILITY<\/h3>\n<p>To the extent practicable, Olene Walker Elementary School will ensure that information for parents and family members (including parents and family members who have limited English proficiency, parents and family members with disabilities, and parents and family members of migratory children) in a language that they can understand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<a class=\"button\" href=\"#links\">Back to Index<\/a><h2 id=\"annual-meeting\">School Annual Title I Meeting<\/h2><p>Parent input is valued. Each year, a parent meeting is held where our school solicits input in the planning and implementation of school parent engagement activities.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting we informed parents of Olene Walker\u2019s participation in Title I. This plan is data-driven, evidence-based, and responsive to findings from data reviews, needs assessment findings, and stakeholder input.
