May 15, 2023Principal Message, School News

Dear Parents and Students:

YEAR END–RISE TESTING

The year-end state RISE assessments will be administered on May 9, 11, 16.  The whole school will be assessed all at one time from 8-11am with a snack break.  By having all our students test, we will have a better understanding of how we need to adjust instruction and interventions for students next school year.  We use the data from these state assessments to make goals and determine funding in the school.  Your student’s best participation and effort is greatly appreciated. Please remember to eat a good breakfast (breakfast is available in the morning at Wasatch), charge your Chromebook and bring a pair of headphones (no airpods—they must plug into the computer) if you have them. We have some available at the school too. Finally, please try to not interrupt your student during the testing times with doctors/dentist appointments or other reasons. Please see attachment for the actual testing bell schedule.

YEARBOOKS:

Parents! School is almost over and many students haven’t purchased a yearbook! They are first come, first served and we’d hate to have your student miss out. If you haven’t purchased one or aren’t sure, please contact Charity Flanagan. Her direct line is 385-646-3701 or you can email caflanagan@graniteschools.org. Avoid the long lines on yearbook day! Buy a yearbook today!

LIBRARY:

Please note: Chromebooks, chargers and textbooks are not due until May 25th, so those are not included on the fine check cards.  Students who do not return their charger on or before May 25th will be charged a $26 fine.  Students who turn in a damaged device may be fined for those damages.  Chromebook and charger fines must also be cleared prior to students receiving Yearbooks on May 30th.  If you have questions or concerns about fines, please contact Charity Flanagan, caflanagan@graniteschools.org (385)646-3701.  Thank you for helping us end the school year on a great note!”

There will be a parent/student meeting this coming Wednesday, May 17 at 6:30 pm in room 157 at Skyline for those interested in running Cross country at Skyline this Fall.
