Office News

General Announcements:

  • Lockers have been assigned and students have access to lockers. Students can find their locker # and combination in Focus under the “my information” tab.
  • School fees will be assessed soon for our elective classes. If you need to apply for a fee waiver, the application is in the Focus parent portal. Select forms and then Fee Waiver application. Fee Waivers need to be submitted the first 30 days of school.

Attendance Corner:

  • Checking Out:
  • Picture ID – All guardians and approved contacts must show ID when checking their student out for any amount of time
  • Anyone not on the list of approved contacts will be denied taking your student out of school
  • You can update your child’s contacts on Focus, or by coming into the office o Plan for 15 minutes to get your student out of class – They may have to clean up their workspace before leaving class and if it’s a class far from the main office then it could take some time to get your student to check out; there is very little we can do to hurry things along
  • Please be patient with the office staff, we have over 850 students
  • Attendance:
  • Reporting absences – We now require excusals of absences to be in writing. This can be done with a written note, on our Wasatch Jr. website using the tab marked “Attendance”, or via email at wasatchattendance@graniteschools.org
o Reporting tardies – Tardies can only be excused by parents during the lst period (or their first class of the day). Please send a note in the morning with your student, email wasatchattendance@graniteschools.org, or use our attendance form on our website to excuse tardies. Please allow at least 24 hours for attendance to be corrected on Focus
  • Focus has changed the way they report absences and tardies to parents. Some of you may receive a phone call right after a student is marked absent in class. It may be a mismark and will be corrected before the end of the day. We ask that parents wait at least 24 hours before emailing the office to correct an absence or tardy
  • Mis-marked attendance – If a teacher mis-marks attendance for your student, and it is not corrected within 24 hours, please email our office to report it. We will reach out to the teacher to confirm that they were mis-marked and correct the attendance accordingly.

Street Passes

  • Street passes are a way for you to check your student out of school without having to come into the building. A written note must be turned into the office before school starts, or between 1st and 2nd period.
  • If a student brings us a note for a street pass after 2nd period, the pass may not be issued
  • The note must contain the following information:
    • Students’ first and last names
    • Date and Time they are leaving
    • Parents’ signature and phone number
  • Street passes are not issued on activity days (assemblies, dances, etc.). However, we can have your student waiting in the office when you arrive as long as they provide a note in the morning
