What a great week of reading fun we had! Westbrook Elementary sure knows how to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday (aka Read Across America) with style! Students were asked to read at least 30 minutes each night, but many read much longer than that. Top readers were rewarded with a place as a contestant in a fun assembly featuring our very own Dr. Seuss Jeopardy Game. The top classes for total reading minutes earned an extra recess with Mrs. Montoya too. She and Mrs. Wasden planned and organized all of the activities. We are grateful for their hard work (and seemingly endless energy)! Other activities during the week (and the Dr. Seuss books that inspired them) included: Picking up garbage & turning off our screens at night (The Lorax); wearing a shirt from somewhere you have been, making a goal/ambition banner (Oh, the Places You’ll Go); wearing wacky clothes, playing wacky games (Wacky Wednesday); wearing as much green as possible, trying something new, picking out a new book (Green Eggs and Ham); games, wearing crazy socks (Fox in Socks); a read-a-thon, classroom door decorations, and more! Keep up the great habit of reading, wildcats!
