The focus of Title I schools is to help students achieve proficiency on core standards, closing academic gaps that may exist. These efforts include providing targeted supports to at-risk students, building teachers' capacity through professional development, and strengthening parents' abilities in helping their children succeed.<\/p>\n\n \n

2026-2027 West Lake STEM regards parental and family engagement as vital to the academic success of students in each school. Parents are the initial teachers of their children and serve as partners with the district in helping their children achieve academic success.<\/p>\n
West Lake STEM will involve parents in the process of school review and improvement, including: sharing achievement data with parents, inviting input from parents regarding LEA and school academic goals, discussing scientifically-based research instructional practices, and giving direction in securing research-based curriculum materials that align with goals.<\/p>\n
West Lake STEM will provide coordination and technical assistance to promote quality parent and family engagement activities. Current initiatives include Academic Parent Teacher Teams implemented during parent-teacher conference evenings, proficiency-based learning, home visits, and Community Center programs.<\/p>\n

In addition, West Lake STEM will adhere to all conditions of the\u00a0Elementary and\u00a0Secondary School Act\u00a0<\/em>as specified in the parent and family engagement expectations including but not limited to: conducting an annual meeting to share with parents Title I information, developing and sharing with parents the school-parent compact, informing parents about the parent information and resource centers, such as the Utah Family Center located at the Granite Education Center.<\/p>\nBack to Index<\/a> Parent input is valued. Each year, a parent meeting is held where our school solicits input in the planning and implementation of school parent engagement activities.<\/p> Each year, our school conducts a needs assessment, reviews student performance data, and solicits input from various stakeholders in order to develop a meaningful Title I Plan. This plan is data-driven, evidence-based, and responsive to findings from data reviews, needs assessment findings, and stakeholder input.
