{"id":6,"date":"2013-04-04T13:58:47","date_gmt":"2013-04-04T19:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/wilson\/about-us\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T13:34:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T19:34:15","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/wilson\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us\/Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Woodrow Wilson Elementary is a diverse <a href=\"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/wilson\/title-i\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4341\">Title I<\/a> school with over 30 cultures and languages spoken.&nbsp; The school has a very talented and dedicated staff able to work with students from around the world and capitalize on the strengths and culture of each student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Woodrow Wilson is a technology rich school with all of the current, most innovative programs and devices for student and teacher use.&nbsp; Technology is used throughout the curriculum in each grade level to extend learning and reinforce English language skills for our diverse population.&nbsp; The goal of the staff and students at Woodrow Wilson Elementary is to embrace and accept the global population and learn from each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>School Background<\/b><br>Woodrow Wilson was rebuilt as part of the Granite Education Center&nbsp;in 2005.&nbsp;The original Woodrow Wilson was opened in 1925 in South Salt Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Enrollment<\/b><br>Approximately 400 students, K \u2013 5, attend Woodrow Wilson. Three full-day sessions of kindergarten are offered.&nbsp;&nbsp; In addition, 4 sessions of preschool for 3 and 4-year-old children are offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Technology<\/b><br>\u00a0All classrooms have a set of Chromebooks to use in their daily instruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Awards and Distinctions<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Home of Granite&#8217;s Excel Winner and Teacher of the year for several years as well as the Utah&#8217;s Elementary Principal of the Year in 2023.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Family Literacy site with ESL classes for adults, parenting instruction and side-by-side learning with their child in the classroom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outstanding business partnerships with the East Millcreek Community; South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Business Women&#8217;s Organization, Police, Fire and Rotary Club; O.C.
