During the past week, the acting Community Council and the patrons of Neil Armstrong Academy have tried to decide how to best use the newly funded fine-arts specialist for next year. The specialist will be at the school one day a week and will provide instruction in the arts to each Armstrong student. The Community Council met on May 1st to discuss the possibilities and designed a survey that went out to patrons via email, Facebook, and Twitter later that same day. After a week of receiving responses, the Community Council met to consider the results and make a recommendation.
Based on the results of the parent survey and the goal to maximize the number of students impacted by the fine-arts specialist, the Community Council will recommend Armstrong’s fine-art specialist be used to provide a Music for Life program for each student during 6 of the months next year (students will participate approximately every other week) and a visual-arts program for each student during 3 of the months (students will participate in one visual-art activity during the month).
Thank you so much to all the parents for your feedback on the survey and to the Community Council for your efforts in considering the decision.
