Last week marked the close of the early open-enrollment window for applications for the 2014-2015 school year. We’ve received a great number of applications, and we’re beginning to process those now. Although the guidelines for open-enrollment applications require a written response from the school by March 30th, we’re hoping to be well ahead of the curve and have response letters in the mail in the next two weeks.
Please know, because of the sheer number of applications and the limited number of slots (especially in grades 1 through 6), many letters will not initially contain the “yes” I know so many parents and students are looking for. Don’t be discouraged too quickly. In many ways, the “no” letters are more of a “not yet” letter and will even inform you where you sit in line.
Movement will undoubtedly happen between March and August, and many students who originally receive a “no” will find it changed to a “yes” before the next school year begins. Unfortunately, however, we must wait until space is available before accommodating additional permits.
