Students and teachers at Armstrong are currently engaged in (quite possibly) the most worthwhile stretch of the school year. This is the time when students are solidifying the concepts they’ve worked so hard on all year and are gearing up to own what they know and to take great pride in their own accomplishments as they demonstrate their accumulated level of proficiency on the end-of-year testing. As we come out of the cold, dark winter months, the lights really start to come on in more ways than one.
This is also a powerful time to harness or capitalize on the worthwhile routines the students are establishing and hopefully use some of them to carry them right through the summer. As each student works toward his or her own personal best in the Armstrong Games, parents can start the conversations now about maintaining some of that pace and routine as summer activities. The Armstrong Reading Blast Off is a great example of an activity to “keep sharp” during the months of summer.
