During the last eight days of school, Armstrong participated in “The Penny Wars” for its annual fundraiser. Students worked to earn the most points for their grade-level team by bringing in pennies for their own jar and bringing in other coins or bills for the jars of their opponents. All pennies counted as positive points. All other denominations counted negatively. The contest went back and forth throughout the entire eight days, but, in the end, our 2nd grade emerged on top!
The school goal was to raise $10,000 to help sustain our one-to-one iPad deployment next year. On the day before the school year ended (the official last day of the fundraiser) the totals came in just under $9,500. The Armstrong parents and students responded with a last-day push that brought in an additional $1,500.
Don’t miss the final Penny Wars episode showcasing Mr. Goebel getting locked on the roof and Mr. Howe duct taped to a pole outside. Job well done, Eagles!
