It seems to happen every year right about now! The seasons are changing, and things are getting much, much colder. Each day students comment on how cold it feels already, and we think to ourselves, “Oh . . . you ain’t seen nothing yet!”
The truth is it’s Utah, it’s (almost) winter, and it’s cold. And, it’ll only get colder. We ask that all students and families plan accordingly. Come to school wearing coats, hats, gloves, and whatever else is needed to keep warm before school, after school, and during recesses. Given that Utah winters create several months of cold rather than isolated days, we do our best to adjust to the conditions and maintain our normal routine as much as possible (including outside line up and outside recesses). Although we can (of course) accommodate individual circumstances as needed, we’ve determined as a Community Council to maintain an “outside” day unless the temperature is below 20 degrees, the particulate pollution is above 90 µg/m3, or the outside recess duty determines it’s too wet to stay outside. Otherwise, plan on enjoying the beautiful outdoors this winter!
