Dr. Martin Bates, the superintendent of Granite School District, visited Neil Armstrong Academy last week. During his visit, Dr. Bates met with students, teachers, and parents to see the great things going on at Armstrong and to learn how he might best support the many needs.
He visited with teachers during one of their powerful collaboration sessions to learn more about how the Armstrong Community Council’s LAND Trust plan is supporting this valuable time. He looked at different ways Armstrong teachers and students are shifting their focus to student learning outcomes with standards-based grading systems and trackers. He checked out the new Armstrong weather station, and he even spent a little time out in the Greenhouse with some very talented 9-year-old gardeners.
Dr. Bates is among the most accessible superintendents you’ll find in the country. If you have a question, concern, or celebration you’d like to address with him, you can easily do so either by sending it to the superintendent’s blog on the Granite webpage or even by scheduling to meet with him on one of his Walk-in-Wednesdays.
