Neil Armstrong Academy School Choir Registration
Rocketeers rehearsals start back up on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 3:30-4:15 in the large group meeting room on the second floor of Armstrong Academy.
Is Rocketeers for you? Answer the following questions to find out!
1. Yes No I am in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade at Armstrong Academy.
2. Yes No I love singing and performing and WANT to be a Rocketeer.
3. Yes No I will obey the school rules.
☺ Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
☺ Show respect.
☺ Be on task.
4. Yes No I can commit to attending at least 11 of the 14 rehearsals to prepare for our winter concert.
(More than 3 absences may be cause for dismissal from the choir.) We will work around safety patrol schedules. Participation in both choir and safety patrol is encouraged.
5. Yes No I will stay in the large group room once rehearsals start at 3:30. (School gets out at 3:20
and all students need to use the bathroom and get drinks before coming to choir. They then need to stay in the large group room until it is time to be dismissed. It is distracting to have students come and go throughout rehearsal. Also, there is no supervision in the hall or bathrooms and we want to avoid any possible problems that may arise. We will definitely accommodate any health issues. Please make a note of these on the permission form below.)
If you answered “yes” to all of the above questions, and agree to follow the school choir rules, we can’t wait to have you join Rocketeers! Please click here to complete the registration.
Rocketeers is a volunteer after-school program and does not receive school funds. A $10 donation per student is requested to help with cost of music, practice CDs, T-shirts, props, incentives, etc., but we gladly accept any amount you can donate. Extra donations are greatly appreciated and give support to those who can’t donate. Any student can still fully participate in choir without a donation.
The Rocketeers choir director is Debbie Kirby. She can be reached at debbiekirby33@hotmail.com
You can download the mp3 version of winter concert songs and get the lyrics on the choir’s website. (Click on Holiday music 2015)

As Mrs. Kirby will be the only Rocketeers director this year, she is looking for a little extra help. Please see the next page for volunteering opportunities for both 6th grade students and parents.
Leadership Opportunities for 6th grade students:
Mrs. Kirby would like a few 6th grade student assistants this year. Here are the student assistant responsibilities:
1. Be a mentor to a small group of Rocketeers. Help them stay on task and learn the songs.
2. Help take roll.
3. Help pass out incentives at the end of rehearsals.
4. Help out with any other special tasks as needed.
Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to be a 6th grade student assistant.
Parent Assistant:
A parent assistant is an extra adult at the choir rehearsal. (You do not need to sing or lead the music.)
Here are the parent assistant responsibilities:
1. Be another adult presence in the choir rehearsal.
2. Help the students stay on task as we learn the songs.
3. Help pass out incentives at the end of rehearsals.
4. Help out with any other special tasks as needed.
Schedule: This would depend on the number of parents willing to help out. If there are 4 parent assistants, each would come in once every 4 weeks. If there are 10 parent assistants, each would come in once every 10 weeks. Parent assistants would need to be in the upstairs large group meeting room from 3:15-4:20 on the assigned Tuesday.
Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to be a parent assistant.
Accomplished Accompanist:
Do you, or someone you know, play the piano very well? We are looking for an accomplished accompanist who could attend 3-4 rehearsals in November and December, as well as play for our winter performances. (We will perform an evening winter concert December 10 @ 6:00 p.m. for parents and friends and a coordinating performance for the Armstrong student body at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11. We are hoping to have 1-2 other opportunities to perform around the community during the holiday season.)
Please indicate on the registration form if you, or someone you know, would be interested in accompanying for our winter concert.
