To help students answer the question, “How will I know when I have learned it?” the Neil Armstrong Academy teachers have set up the Armstrong Evernote Digital Portfolios. These portfolios are owned by the students, and, therefore, will go with them long after they have left Armstrong. Because these portfolios exist in the cloud, students can access them from their school iPad, the school computer lab, their home computers, or even their parents’ mobile devices. The Evernote platform allows students and teachers to easily and regularly sock away evidence of student learning and growth. By comparing artifacts created now to those created a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, or even a few years ago, students can see just how far they’ve come. Additionally, Armstrong will use the student’s Evernote Digital Portfolios as a communication channel to funnel Wednesday-Folder materials, mClass Home Connect Letters, and even report cards to the students and their parents.
