For the second year in a row, we received a fabulous response to the annual PTA Reflections contest. Students tackled the theme, “The World Would Be a Better Place If . . .” with startling creativity. Thank you to the many participants of this year’s contest. Your work and effort was inspiring. Student entries are now on display in the primary display cases in the school, and we’ll be up for the next several weeks. On Monday, during the ...
Thank You from the PTA
As of the writing of this post, the Armstrong students had sold right around 2000 items and met the goal we set as part of our yearly PTA fundraiser. Additionally, the Utes beat the Cougars 112 to 68 in the touchdown contest. Both schools will be happy to know what the results would have been had the game traditional football game been played this year—perhaps the Utes will be happier than the Cougs. Thank you to everyone who was able to ...

The Armstrong Collective Commitments
They began as a number of promises the Armstrong educators wanted to make to each other. However, having engaged in more than a year’s worth of “launch-explore-discuss” STEM lesson designs, we’ve realized how very applicable the Armstrong Collective Commitments are to our students. And, even parents can model these commitments as they work with their students. They are: I am responsible for my own learning. I will feel safe to try, fail, ...
Teacher Collaboration on Four Fundamental Questions
On account of the tremendous support from the Armstrong School Community Council (SCC) and the current LAND Trust plan, Armstrong teachers have three 45-minute blocks each week to sit down with their grade-level team and collaborate on four critical questions. These are: What do we want want our students to learn? How will we know when each student has learned it? How will we respond when some students don’t learn? How can we extend and ...
PTA Fundraiser 2014
The 2014 PTA Fundraiser is underway, and, for a little added fun, this year’s installment pits the University of Utah against Brigham Young University. As was announced in the fundraiser kickoff assembly, because the Utes and Cougars won’t be playing this year, they need to know who would have won the game had it taken place. We want the Armstrong students to help predict the final score by earning 3 yards for their favorite team every time ...

We’re pleased to announce the Community Council for the upcoming school year.
