Last week marked the first SEP conferences of the new school year. We had a fabulous turnout, and it was so fun to get to see all the students with their parents. We want to say a big thank you to the parents for their tremendous support. By the end of the two nights of conferences, over 97% of the parents had come, and many of those who couldn’t make it had already made arrangements for a different time. Your astonishing support makes such ...
New Class at Armstrong
This week, we started a new class at Armstrong by restructuring our second grade to help lower class sizes. Instead of four 2nd-grade classes of 30+ students, we’ve formed a fifth class to lower class sizes to about 24 or 25 students. In the process, we’ve been lucky enough to have Mrs. Spicer join our staff. Mrs. Spicer comes to us from Valley Crest Elementary, and, already, she has clicked with the kids and teachers at Armstrong. Valley ...

Among the most thrilling aspects of entertaining our many guests is watching the Armstrong students ...
Read!
Nothing beats a good book, and students all around Armstrong are reminded of that while in the thick of the first of our two annual book fairs. Parents, thank you for supporting the Armstrong book fair (which greatly enhances the number of books in the Armstrong library), and, more importantly, thanks for supporting your student’s reading. By reading a minimum of 20 minutes each day, students develop a fluency they can’t acquire any other ...

Mission, Vision, Values
After completing the first year, the Armstrong teachers took a good look at our mission, vision, and values (collective-commitments) statements and made some refinements. They’re now available on our website. In general, the new statements are shorter and more focused. Additionally, the collective commitments have been adjusted so they apply equally to students as well as teachers (and parents, too). They are: I am responsible for my ...
