Jump Rope Club
The Neil Armstrong Academy Jump Rope Club met for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. The turnout was well over 100 kids . . . All very excited to be there. Mrs. Wood and various other assistants kept the students hopping for an entire 45 minutes before dismissing. Students headed home looking tired but very happy! ...
Wish List Committee
As the weeks go by, Armstrong is looking more and more complete. Kids, parents, and teachers alike have oohed and awed as each new addition has neared completion, including the greenhouse, soccer field, arboretum, gym, STEM labs, and the commons-area classroom. One important item on our wish list is the Armstrong Academy weather station. The building has been outfitted with provisions to install a weather station similar to the one found at ...
PTA Dance Marathon
The annual PTA fundraiser launched during a terrific dance-off assembly on Monday afternoon. This is the PTA’s only fundraiser of the year. You can support the Dance Marathon by donating any amount to the students of Neil Armstrong Academy. 100% of your donation stays at our school to fund the many programs the PTA provides. With parents help, students are encouraged to ask relatives, friends, and neighbors to make a donation. The fundraiser ...
2nd Graders to the Zoo
The Armstrong 2nd grade took the show on the road yesterday with a field trip to Hogle Zoo. The students have been studying living and non-living things, and the zoo was a perfect capstone to that discussion. The new Polar Bear exhibit was a big hit with the 2nd graders, and Hogle Zoo's polar bear gave quite the show splashing, swimming, and diving right in front of them. The lego animals were a big hit as well. ...
The Sit-Stand Furniture . . . Here At Last!
We’re thrilled to announce that, after nearly five weeks of waiting, the correct furniture for the Neil Armstrong Academy classrooms is in place. The furniture is intended to break the “sit-and-get” mold and allows students a great deal of flexibility throughout the school day to move, sit, or stand. Additionally, the tables and stools lend themselves well to collaborative discussions and project-based-learning activities. ...
SEP Conferences
This week marks the first Armstrong Academy SEP conferences. Thank you in advance to all the families for making arrangements to come back out to school in the evening and conference about your student’s growth and development as it relates to school. I can’t emphasize enough what a difference those few minutes of discussion make to reiterate to our students the value we place on the work they’re doing at school. And, SEP conferences will ...
McDonald’s Day of Service
We want to say a huge thank you to McDonald's and the Armstrong Safety Patrol for providing a "Day of Service." The two crews joined forces on Thursday afternoon, rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Workers washed walls, cleaned windows, picked up garbage, swept the hallways, and put a sparkle into the new building. Even Ronald McDonald was on hand and kept busy. ABC 4 News was on the scene, and an excited 6th grader ...
Community Council Elections
Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory ...
