It’s that wonderful time of the year…no not Christmas but the beginning of school! We are so excited to see each of our students and have them be a part of our daily lives. Diamond Ridge is an awesome school. We have awesome students, awesome teachers, and an awesome community. We are truly ready to blast off for another year of learning with our Super STAR students!
Speaking of Super “STAR” students, we have a new theme for our year. We are continuing our focus on being SUPER but we are emphasizing our new “ST” Math program and the great math growth that can come from utilizing this program to its full capacity. You will be hearing more about this as the year progresses. We also want to keep our reading scores high by having our students practice what they are learning about reading through our “AR” (Accelerated Reader) program. Please encourage your child to read each night and to meet their reading goals each term. Just in case you haven’t figured out our theme – when we combine ST and AR we have STAR students who are SUPER!
A big THANKS to all who attended our family picnic. What a great way to kick off our year. Reconnecting with past teachers and meeting our new teachers speaks to the amazing community you live in and the support you give to our school.
Just a few thoughts about what each of you can do to help your students have another successful year. We love to have parents involved and appreciate your support. Please let the classroom teachers, the office, or the PTA know if you have a few minutes to spare! There is always something, or someone who has a need at the school. Help in our library is always needed! Books need a quick once over with special wipes to keep them nice and clean for our students. This takes time which always seems to be at a premium. If you stop by and have a few minutes, we could sure use your help. Please understand that if you plan to volunteer on a regular basis, including field trips where you supervise students outside of the teacher’s view, it is now required that you be fingerprinted through the district. There is a $45.00 cost to have this completed – a small price to pay to assure the safety of our students. For the needed paper work, please stop by our school office.
To keep you informed a monthly PTA newsletter will be provided with the latest information about upcoming events. Additionally, we will utilize our phone call and text message system to remind parents of important happenings, so it is critical that you keep your registration information current.
Thanks,
Debbie Koji
