We have had a great year so far in our new Spanish two-way Dual Language Immersion Program (DLI). Our first grade students in this program are beginning to speak a little Spanish. It is fun to walk by the classroom and hear then chanting phrases together. These two classes will move into two second grade classes to continue learning half a day in Spanish and half a day in English. We are working on getting two great teachers to teach these classes and are very excited with our prospects. Mrs. Staker and Miss Brunner will have two new classes next year in first grade to continue our DLI program. We still have spots for our current kindergarten students to sign up. This can be done on-line at www.graniteschools.org. Just type Dual Language application in the search area. Call or come by the school if you need help or to use one of our computers to register. Research shows that students in the DLI program achieve higher scores on their end of year tests and will leave high school with two classes shy of earning a minor in Spanish. It is a great opportunity!
