Exciting things are happening in our Library. In October, Magna Elementary had the highest circulation of OverDrive books in the District! As a result we have been given seven iPod Nano’s for the Teachers to use as listening stations. We also received twenty Kindles, to be checked out with parental permission. See the Library for more details. If you haven’t used OverDrive at home with your student, I highly recommend that you do. Go to granite.lib.overdrive.com, choose Magna Elementary, then your student can enter in their ‘9’ number. The students can have access to eBooks and audiobooks whenever they like. OverDrive automatically returns the item when the lending period is over. No more worries about overdue books, best of all it’s free!
Our Road to Success reading program is going great! The students earn tickets for reading at home each night. Those tickets are put into a box for weekly drawings. Some of the prizes include school supplies, restaurant discount coupons and small toys. There will also be a grand prize drawing at the end of the school year. The minutes they read also count towards our Monthly Top Reader! At the beginning of each month one student from each class, with the most minutes read from the previous month, receives a prize. The student with the most minutes read overall in the lower grades and upper grades gets an additional prize. So parents, help your students keep track of those reading minutes.
