Here at Valley we have competition teams for the following sports.
Cross country, soccer, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, track and field. Our team sports soccer, basketball and volleyball have an “intramural” period and an all-star team. During the intramural period all students who want to come and try out the sport may come and participate. The intramural period is our tryouts for the all star team. Students will be able to know who is selected for the all star team on the team selection day. Cross country, wrestling and track will have a spot on the team for all students who come, meet eligibility requirements and participate
Eligibility- In order to be on a competition team a student must have a 2.0 average grade and a 2.0 citizenship grade as well as attending the intramural period. Students who struggle to maintain a 2.0 citizenship grade who make the team will be put on academic probation. And team eligibility will be contingent on completing an academic probation plan. Coaches and administration have the ability to remove students from participation due to behavior issues.
When selected for the team there are 2 forms that need to be filled out and returned in order to compete. Coaches will hand out the forms to athletes for parents/guardians to fill out and return. They can also be found on the granite school district website https://www.graniteschools.org/curriculuminstruction/athletics/ they are the acknowledgement of risk form and the Consent for Emergency care form. These forms must be filled out and returned in order for the student to participate in competitions. There is also a participation fee
