Hello Western Hills Families!
We are excited to start 2nd term! Please review the following information…
WESTERN HILLS IS OPEN:
As many may know, Kearns High School students have all temporarily moved to distance learning until November 9th. However, this is NOT the case for Western Hills Elementary. Our case count is very low and we still have face-to-face learning (as well as distance learning) in place. We are open for learning!
COVID:
Please contact the school if a member of your immediate family tests positive for COVID or if a student has been exposed and needs to quarantine. Thank you! This helps to keep everyone safe! Please also continue to keep children home when they are sick.
WEATHER:
The weather is starting to get cold. Since students will generally have outside recess, please help them dress for the weather. Also, unless students are eating breakfast at school, please do not send them to school earlier than 8:30am (the first bell rings at 8:35am).
HALLOWEEN:
Students may wear costumes to school this Thursday, Oct 29th. However, we ask that they do NOT have face masks larger than normal masks and that they don’t bring any weapons. Additionally, please do not send candy to school with students–they will be given a goody bag at school. Thank you for your support!
TECH SUPPORT NIGHT (Nov 4th 4:30-7:30 pm):
This is a night where parents (together with students) may drop by the school to get support with online learning (how Google Classroom and online assignments work, etc.). Some teachers (as well as coaches) will be available that night to help parents figure out distance learning. Since Fridays are distance learning days for all students, both face-to-face and distance learning families are welcome. Please bring your chromebook if you are a distance learner.
TECH SUPPORT NIGHT SCHEDULE:
Grades K-2: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Grades 2-4: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Grades 5-6: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
(as before, if you cannot make your time, please just come when you can)
Thank you!
Have a wonderful day!
