We have just completed the mid-year DIBELS reading assessment for each student at Academy Park. I an thrilled to announce that we saw great growth in students’ reading achievement. 407 students had increased in points from the beginning of the year test. 89 students made enough growth to advance to the next level. Every student should know what their mid-year score and end of year target is. Please discuss these scores with your child. The area with the least progress was comprehension/retelling story details. During home reading ask your child to restate the main idea and give specific details from the story in the order presented. Practicing these skills will help all the students continue to make progress toward their end of year DIBELS goals. If you need further information, feel free to call or email your child’s teacher. Nightly home reading, asking questions about what was read, and checking home work will help your child continue to make reading progress.
