One of my favorite quotes is “Life doesn’t require that we BE the best, only that we TRY our best.” This is also part of our Skyhawk motto “Be your personal best.” When your children express frustration or difficulty with a task, encourage them to keep trying and reward their best efforts. It is only through continued trying that things get easier and progress is made.
We have just finished very successful SEP conferences and thank all who attended. If you have not yet conferenced with your child’s teacher, please make contact and set an appointment. Classes with 100% representation at conferences will receive a root beer float party next week. Take time to discuss with your child what was discussed at the conferences. Praise them for their great progress and encourage them to keep up the good work throughout the rest of the year. All too often we see students give up during the most important last few months of school. The next three months are vital to each child’s academic progress. Our school goal is to have at least 80% of our students at grade level in both reading and math by the end of the year. Look at the data you received at SEP conferences and then help your child set goals and work to achieve them. Reward them when they attain them. When everyone, teacher, parent and student work together as a team, anything is possible.
