We are excited to announce that all students will receive music, dance and drama instruction throughout the year. To allow teachers time to collaborate and review student data, we have established a program where students will rotate between music, dance/drama, and computers each week. The classes began last week and students and teachers provided positive feedback regarding their experiences. With an increase of student achievement data available, teachers are using this time to review the data and adjust instruction to meet the individual needs of each student. We are confident that this will allow students to make greater academic gains, as well as an exposure to the fine arts and computer skills. During spring term, students will present some of the talents learned from these classes. Watch for further information about our Spring Fine Arts Fair where all children will be performing.
Also new this year for parents will be Community Café discussion sessions. These sessions will be held from 5:30-6:30 two Tuesday evenings each month, beginning in October. Dinner and child care will be provided for those who participate. Translators will also be available to help during the discussions, which will address items of concern or questions from parents participating. Watch for more information about this great opportunity at S.E.P. Conferences on September 23rd and 24th.
We have received some great grants this year to offer additional opportunities for students and families. If you have suggestions of programs you would like to see incorporated into our school or after school program, please feel free to contact me at the front office. I am always looking for new ideas that will benefit our community.
