Fall and Spring are prime times for lice invasions. Lice are not harmful, but they are a real nuisance. The Granite District policy on lice is – students with live lice are sent home to be “treated” and can return to school the next day – students with nits/eggs are kept at school, but parents are contacted to treat the child and sent to school after treatment.
If either condition occurs, the following procedures, after the shampoo treatment, help prevent further infestation:
– wash all bedding/clothing of the child with lice
– Thoroughly vacuum floors and furniture
– Bag all stuffed animals and place in warm area for 48hours
– Check others in the home for nits or lice
– Recheck those with lice 3-5 days later.
If you discover live lice in your child’s hair, please contact the school so we can check the children in that classroom. Working together we can keep these “nasty bugs” out of our school. Thanks for your help in this situation.
