It is with mixed feelings that I formally announce my retirement from Granite School District effective July 1st. Administrators need to sign official retirement papers in December, prior to the summer they are retiring. That was a tough decision and it took me three visits to HR before I finally decided to sign.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 8 ½ years at Academy Park and have given it my all. Thank you for your support and friendship throughout the years. During that time, many academic, building, and support program changes have taken place and I am pleased with the progress we have achieved together. Thank you to all the PTA boards, Community Councils, volunteers, staff, parents, and students who have been so diligent. It has definitely been a joint effort.
My replacement will be announced in April by the Granite District School Board. I am hoping to introduce your new principal at our Spring Dance Festival on May 14th. I am sure whoever replaces me will continue to have your support.
Again, thank you for your support and friendship. You have a great school and a great community. I will miss you all!!
Sincerely,
Jean Gowans
