Next week, April 20th-24th breakfast will be served before school as usual. All students who eat breakfast will be charged their normal amount. Breakfast will be open from 7:40-8:05.
Two weeks out, April 27th-May 1 breakfast will again be served before school FREE TO ALL STUDENTS. No one will be charged. SAGE testing begins this week and the district is providing free breakfast to all willing to come at 7:40 to eat. The breakfast room will close at 8:00. After this week there will be no more breakfast before school.
BEGINNING MAY 4TH, THERE WILL BE NO MORE BEFORE SCHOOL BREAKFAST!!!
Starting May 4th, the district will be providing breakfast free of charge to all students in all classrooms. Breakfast will consist of an entrée, fruit, and drink. This will be ready for students to pick up as they enter the classroom and will be available for 15 minutes. Students must be at school by 8:20 to take advantage of this free breakfast. This is allowed for every student, but is not mandatory. If you would rather monitor what your child is eating by providing breakfast at home, that is totally fine. We will keep roll of those who are not eating, so that meals are not delivered for them, wasting unwanted food. This Breakfast in the Classroom program has been tried in several Granite District schools and comes highly recommended. We are excited to provide all students the opportunity to have a nutritious breakfast at school.
Because there will be no more early morning breakfast or computer lab classes, there is no reason for any student to come to school before 8:00. This has always been our preference, but we are now asking that students stay home until it is necessary for them to leave to arrive between 8:00 and 8:10. Students who arrive early have many more opportunities to become involved with problems. Before school supervision is minimal as teachers are preparing for their classes at that time. Many parents who leave for work early make arrangements for some other adult to supervise their child or set an alarm so they will know when to leave to get to school on time. We are asking for everyone’s support as we initiate this new program in our school community. I am sure we will see great dividends as more students receive breakfast, allowing them to stay focused throughout the morning instruction.
