COMMUNITY COUNCIL—This is an important gathering each month to discuss ways to improve our school. Please consider becoming a member of Community Council by filling out the declaration of candidacy form that came home today and returning it to school next week. Or simply come to our meeting next Thursday at 3:30 in the library. Our agenda this month is:
- Elections process to fill vacancies
- School staffing proposal
- Safe walking route
- Land Trust/Title 1 updates
- Schedule of meeting dates and times
We especially need bilingual parents to serve on the council. Won’t you join us and help make a difference at our school?
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM—Now is the time to enroll in the Fall semester of the after school program. We are following the same format as last year with academics first hour and enrichment activities the second hour. New this year is the band and orchestra program for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders and the school choir for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Music is a great way to help children become smarter. Please consider participating in these great offerings. We have partnered with Riverton Music to provide instrumental music lessons twice each week so you don’t even have to pay the usual $130 fee for lessons. The school will waive these fees for the classes. Please contact the office if you would like your child to take music lessons this year.
STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP—Please help us keep our drop off/pick up zone free for that purpose. Parents should not be parking in the yellow zone. If you wish to park, please use the church parking lot across the street. This will greatly help us with student safety!
SECURITY DOORS ARE HERE—Yes, the doors are finally installed and patrons need to come to the office from now on to request permission to go to other parts of the school when school is in session. We know how much you care about the safety of your children. These doors will add another layer of security that I know all parents will gladly support.
