Dear Academy Park Families,
Term 2 ended today. The school year is half over. Unbelievable! This has already been a productive year of learning and we have more learning yet to go. Students went home early today and there will be no school tomorrow so teachers can finish report cards and plan for Term 3 which starts on Monday January 14th.
Report cards for Term 2 will come home with all students on Thursday, January 17th. And, as a reminder, there is no school on Monday Jan 21st for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Our next Community Council meeting is on Wednesday January 16th at 4:00 in the school library. We welcome your participation as we discuss how to improve our school and use our Title 1 and Land Trust funds in the most productive ways.
Our annual charity, Souper Bowl of Caring, begins on Monday January 14th and runs for two weeks. Please consider sharing something non-perishable from your pantry that might help another family in need. Children will have a friendly competition among grade levels to see who can bring in the most food items. Money is also appreciated. All funds and food will go to the Granite Education Foundation.
Thank you for making sure your children come to school every day. Thank you for making sure your children read at home every day and work on ST Math or other math practice at home. Thank you for communicating regularly with your children’s teachers in productive ways.
As a school we continue to commit to keeping children safe, caring more about children than anything else, and communicating with you in a variety of ways.
Together, we will help children finish the last half of school year 2018-19 with great success!
As always, please contact me with your concerns, questions, and celebrations.
Dr. Longberg, principal
