Our final Community Council meeting for this school year will be May 6th at 5:00. It will be a virtual meeting. If you are not a member of the Community Council, you are invited to contact Dr. Longberg at plongberg@graniteschools.org in order to get the link to attend. Our Community Council members will be voting on the proposal to reconfigure 6th grade to Kennedy Junior high effective school year 2021-22. An independent survey was conducted in February throughout the network that serves Kennedy Junior. The results were shared at our April meeting. 55% of those surveyed in the Academy Park area indicated they were in favor of the reconfiguration while 30% were opposed. The other 16% were neutral or unsure. It is the responsibility of our school Community Council to interpret this information and vote on the final recommendation that will be sent to the School Board on behalf of the Academy Park community. A super majority of Community Councils in favor of the reconfiguration is required before the school board makes its final decision. Minutes from all Community Council meetings and other relevant information is posted on this page as well. The School Community Council has an important role in the decisions of the school. While membership on the council is no longer open for this school year, we will be soliciting members for next year’s Community Council again in the Fall.
