RISE Testing/Acadience Testing
This month all students will take an Acadience Reading and Acadience Math tests. These tests are given three times a year and we are excited to see the growth in all of our students.
RISE testing is continuing for grades 3-5 and ends on May 10. The following week a few students need to make up missed tests. Classes will have varying schedules for the dates they test during this time frame. Please look for emails from teachers and/or check planners for the dates your child/children will be testing. Talk with your children about performing their personal best on these tests. Also, make sure everyone gets plenty of sleep and breakfast during the testing period.
Safe Walking/Driving
As spring has arrived, we have more excitement in the air! Students tend to run, play, and chat with friends, and not pay as much attention to cars and safety. As a Crestview community, I ask for all eyes and ears to help watch our children carefully! Drive cautiously, and please review safety habits of using crosswalks with your children. Also, all drivers picking up students, please follow the pick-up zone procedures, and make sure to pick up children on the curb. We also have several parents who pick up children on the streets. I have had concerns brought to my attention that children are darting across the streets unsafely to jump their parent’s cars. Be cautious and keep our children safe at all pick up areas.
Also, the bus drivers have asked for parents not to pick up at the exit/entrance of the bus driveway. Leave one car length empty next to the driveway. The bus has a difficult time maneuvering around the cars to enter/exit onto Lincoln Lane.
End of the Year
We have many fun activities such as field day, field trips, and assemblies planned for the end of the year. We enjoy having a change of pace, and, at the same time, some students struggle with increased behaviors in the spring. As a school, we continue with our behavior intervention program, and send home notes as necessary to engage parent support.
Along with the excitement of the end of the year, a few students become anxious, and are concerned about change and leaving a very comfortable situation and teachers they love. As parents, I suggest you talk with your children about change, how to be a strong finisher, and stay focused with positive behaviors in school and on the playground.
Principal’s Notes
Wow! This year has flown by in an amazing way! I have enjoyed being part of the Crestview community, feeling welcomed, and gaining new friends. It has been an incredible year, and I am impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the commitment of parents to their children’s education and enrichment activities. I appreciate the support from the community in making this a very successful year. Enjoy the summer and time with your beautiful children!
PTA Corner – May 2024
Hey Crestview Parents! Thank you for the overwhelming support for this year’s PTA Read4Funds Fundraiser. As a school, the students read a combined 385,600 minutes totalling an astounding 6,427 hours!!! That is absolutely amazing and we are so proud of each and every one of them! We celebrated with an amazing fundraiser event and art night at the school. It was a wonderful night! For those that reached certain fundraising goals, prizes will be distributed next week.
We are sad this school year is wrapping up – but the fun is not over yet! Watch for volunteer sign-ups for Field Day, the afternoon of May 23rd! Thank you all for all your support throughout the year as we work to make Crestview an even more enriching experience for our students!
