Diamond Ridge is a great place for your students. Our teachers and staff make a concerted daily effort to insure students are kind to each other and avoid behaviors that lead to bullying. We have about 800 students who have been in school for just over 100 days. That’s over 8000 opportunities for misbehavior and yet, here at Diamond Ridge, we’ve only issued 70 white slips all year. How great is that? We are fortunate to have awesome families sending terrific students to our school. Our kids know the rewards of good behavior will bring success now and in the future.
Reading Success
With such a great learning environment, students are more likely to do well academically. We regularly monitor students’ reading abilities and progress. We’re pleased that over 80% of our students are reading on grade level or above. We have structured our instruction to provide extra reading help for those who may have fallen behind. We thank our team of teachers and our reading interventionists, Katie Shaw and Heidi Gutierrez for their help to build a more literate future for our kids.
Science Fair and Future Chef Winners
We have recently concluded our school’s science fair. Many thanks to Danelle Mineer, Colleen Mount and the other fifth and sixth grade teachers who encouraged our students to participate. Our grand prize winner was Carly Koeler. Her project on the best subsurface on which to build to prevent damage from an earthquake was terrific. Other winners were: 1st, Kamryn Alvey; 2nd, Nicholas Roach; 3rd, Desirae Rees. Our 12 finalists were: Kelsie Elzinga, Seri Martin, Kaleb Calhoon, Jacie Childs, Tyra Imbico, Nikola Kimball, Denice Lopez, Trevor Schurman, Claudia Montoya, Taina Adams, Bianca Castro, and Tylee Walters. Honorable mention: Abby Rivera, Zeni Diaz, Jade Sleight, and Sydney Spray.
Two of our students, Jacie Childs and Serra Martin were selected to move on to the district Science Fair. We thank them for representing Diamond Ridge so well.
Congratulations to Hailey Marie Millett who has been chosen as a finalist in Granite District’s Future Chefs Event which will be held on March 15th. She will be receiving a finalist’s packet on Monday, January 28th. We wish Hailey well in this culinary competition.
