FALL FESTIVAL
First and foremost THANK YOU! Thank you for showing up, for the grace that many of you showed when we had to end the event early and for having great children that we have the privilege of serving each day.
I apologize that this year’s Fall Festival did not go as planned as we are still implementing mitigating strategies to keep our community healthy. I hope that this will not deter you from future events. I have met with our PTA to debrief and reflect on how to improve upcoming events. We are optimistic that we will soon be able to gather as a community indoors with the purpose of supporting and celebrating students.
In an effort to restore some of what was lost to students, our PTA is rescheduling the Color Chalk Fun Run for this Friday the 15th at 1:00 (this is an early out day). If you previously paid for the chalk and were unable to run the evening of the Fall Festival, just come and run. If you did not previously pay but would like to participate, you can pay for the race ($10) by bringing cash or a check to the front office.
HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS
Our current plan is to have our Halloween parade the morning of Oct. 29 beginning at 8:30. We will be parading outside. We will exit the building via the kindergarten doors, take a quick left and head towards the front of the school. We will parade around the entire perimeter of the school, so no matter where you choose to sit, everyone will have a front row view. YAY! Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets for seating and dress warmly.
As the parade will start shortly after attendance is taken, we ask that you send your child to school in his/her costume. There will not be time to get into costumes once students have arrived. Costumes must be such that students can remain in them all day and have the ability to walk, sit and move comfortably. Costumes must be school appropriate and free of weapons or any facsimile of a weapon. LIGHT face paint that still allows us to identify students is permitted but will need to be worn for the duration of the school day. Costume masks for students and adults will not be allowed.
In the case of inclement weather or increased restrictions due to COVID-19, the planned parade will be cancelled. If this occurs, we will create a digital parade as was done last year. You will be able to view the parade on our website the afternoon of the 29th.
Classroom parties are being planned by teachers and room parents and will be held prior to lunch on the 29th as it is an early out day. Afternoon Kindergarten will receive details about their Halloween events from Ms. Hardy.
VOLUNTEERS
It has been wonderful seeing more volunteers in our building! We all love having you here and are grateful for the time given to help support our students. Those who have come into the building have noticed the addition of a School Gate Guardian (The Redbox). These are being installed in all elementary schools as a security measure. Rosecrest received this security upgrade during the remodel. Due to volunteer restrictions put in place last year because of Covid-19, this check in protocol is new to us all and does require you to have your driver’s license in hand.
We are also asking that you sign in and out of the volunteer notebook indicating which room you will be in and the duration of your visit. This is for the purposes of contact tracing should you or a member of the class you were volunteering in contract COVID-19.
This may feel like a lot of steps, but they are necessary at this time. Thank you for your patience and for not giving up on us. We love having parents in the building and look forward to seeing more of you.
