6th Grade Gossip
April is the fourth month of the year and includes April fools and Easter. The first day of April is April fool’s day and the fifth day is Easter. The following will include facts about Easter and April fool’s day. A discussion of about what we are currently learning will be included as well.
Easter
People celebrate Easter by having an egg hunt. The eggs can contain money or fortunes. The eggs can be filled with many varieties of candy. The Easter bunny has many forms like a small furry ball, or a tall magical furry man. They say that the Easter bunny is the one who hides and fills the eggs.
April fool’s Day
April fool’s day is the first day of April. April fool’s day can be celebrated by playing jokes or pranks on people. There will always be that one kid that likes to joke or be a hassle. So if I were a teacher I would be the funniest teacher that would not be a huge bossy person, only for that day though.
Math Focus
This month of April is the month that we are working on finding the surface area of prisms and pyramids. Also Making solid shapes from nets and finding the surface area. Our math lessons aren’t the worst thing in the world and they are a huge help when our benchmarks happen.
Social Studies Focus
In the sixth grade we were assigned to pick a country to have a report on. We were assigned to put down three countries in the order on a wish list. Personally I would rather do a state. It’s too bad I forgot to put down the United States of America. I recently got my country Tonga.
Language Arts Focus
Whenever we go to the computer lab we have assignments to write a few poems that includes syllables and a kind of tone. A tone is the feeling or expression as if it was said in front of you. There are all kinds of poem forms like a haiku, a Tanka and even a riddle. Right now I am doing a haiku. The first sentence is five syllables to seven then back to five syllables.
Additional Class Activities
In class we have expectations for behavior. If we meet those goals we get to have a party. In our class we have an action teams. The Dream team, The Material Management Team and the Swag up desks. The dream team is the people who throw our parties. We usually celebrate holidays.
7-habits
Now the seven habits interact with daily choices. The seven habits can help students make positive choices. If a kid is in a situation that he or she is unsure about and doesn’t know what to do than he or she needs to look back at the seven habits. Our teacher is teaching us on how to use the seven habits each day.
