Dear Granite District Parents,
The Granite Board of Education has approved the District School Reopening Plan for this coming fall. The District plan aligns with the guidelines required by the State Board of Education “Planning Requirements for K-12 School Reopening” and has been developed in cooperation with the Salt Lake County Health Department.
The purpose of this email is to assist our elementary schools with planning and to identify whether your student will participate in distance learning OR in-person instruction when school starts on August 24th for students in Elementary school (August 27th for kindergarten students) . This form is only required for our elementary student families. Secondary students/families will indicate their preference at their specific school registration day. PLEASE RETURN THIS FORM ELECTRONICALLY OR IN PERSON BACK TO YOUR SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, or by Friday, August 3, at the latest, so elementary schools can start to assign teachers for distance or in-person instruction. The form should be completed for every elementary student in your household.

Our main objectives for reopening include:
- Providing healthy and safe learning environments for students and staff
- Providing robust instructional options and support for In-Person Learning and Distance Learning
- Providing effective communication with students, staff, and parents
- Providing for the social and emotional needs of students and staff
We appreciate the feedback we received from parents and teachers through our survey processes and other communications. This information has been very helpful in putting plans together and will be valuable as we continue to make the plan details more concrete. School site specific plans are forthcoming and will be published to school websites and your communities on August 5th. Plans will continue to be modified and updated with new information and guidance and other factors as appropriate.
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to keep our students and employees safe.
