October 28, 2021School News

Whittier Parents,

Tomorrow is our yearly Halloween Parade. You have received information on this already. But here are a few reminders:

Parents will gather around the perimeter of the blacktop on the north side of the school (playground area). Please stay on the grass area so the students have a place to walk for the parade. Leave the ramps and stairs open for the students to use. You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc. to watch the parade. Because of Covid, we will not have parents come into the building for the parade.

The parade will begin at approximately 9:15 in the school. Once we’ve picked up all the students, we will come outside for parents to see all the students. The students will walk around the blacktop area two times so everyone can see the students a couple times and the students can see each other. Once we have done that, we will enter back into the building.

After the parade is over, 6th grade parents are invited to enter through the gym’s outside doors and find a seat in the gym for the Thriller Performance, which will occur right after the parade is done. We won’t open seating in the gym until after the parade is over. Seating will be spaced out to provide some distancing. We ask that ONLY 6th grade parents/grandparents come to the performance in the building. If you’d like to watch it, we will Facebook Live it on our Facebook Page. 6th graders will then perform it for the student body in the afternoon, but we won’t allow visitors in at that time because there’s not enough room to keep Covid safe.

If you have arranged to volunteer in a classroom at any point in the day, please come to the office and get a visitor pass beforehand. We are allowing up to two parents in each class.

We truly look forward to this amazing day! Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue to work through the issues of Covid to keep everyone safe.

Mrs. Bodell
