Hello Pioneer community,
My name is Doug Johnson and I am the new principal here at Pioneer El. I am excited for this new position and I am really excited for this coming school year. I look forward to meeting all of you and your students.
A little about myself. I originally received my degree in business marketing and administration from Utah State. 16 years ago, I made a career change and went back to school to get my teaching license and ultimately my master’s degree along with my administration endorsement. I taught first grade for eight years in the Granite District. I went up to the Davis District as an administrative intern for two years then came back to Granite. I was an assistant principal for two years here at Granite and have recently been the principal at Gearld Wright El for three years.
I have six beautiful kids ranging from 10 to 21 and have an amazing wife, Brandi.
I love what I do and love that I get to work with kids and staff each day. It’s a job I enjoy waking up each day and coming to work.
One of my passions is working with kids and involving the community here at the school. Your role at home is so important and I hope that we can work together to create the best educational experience for your kids.
Thank you for letting us teach and help you kids every day. It is a task the we take seriously and love.
Here is the Family Center’s April Calendar. Please take a moment and open the file to see the exciting things that are taking place in the Family Center.
We are still selling the World Finest Chocolates for our fundraiser at Pioneer Elementary! Come to the school for more information or contact your PTA representative for more details. Family owned and based in Chicago since 1939, World’s Finest® Chocolate prides itself on being one of nine American companies that manufacture chocolate directly from the bean. The most modern machinery, dedicated employees and the finest ingredients allow us to consistently deliver the perfect balance of flavor, texture and color.
Follow the same safety procedures as you would with any other fundraiser:
- Never sell to strangers. Rely on family, friends, and neighbors to support your fundraiser.
- Never sell alone. Always have an adult or buddy with you.
- Never enter someone’s home.
- Never carry large amounts of cash.
