The latest Principal’s Message: September 15, 2017
Dear Parents and Students,
Parent/Teacher/Student Led Conferences
On September 25th and 26th we will be having Parent/Teacher conferences. We are moving to a different format for these evenings. First, we want you to attend with your student. This is very important as they will be discussing with you their grades, SAGE and Benchmark scores, class behavior and goals for the year. These are called Student Led Conferences (SLC). We will be posting two videos explaining the SLCs and logging on/navigating Canvas on Tuesday. I will send out the link in a separate email. We understand there may be a few bumps and problems that evening, but we believe that by Spring Conferences we will have them fine-tuned and will create a better experience for all.
Congratulations to Logan Sorensen, Aaron Wang, Lucy Randall and Hadlee Hammer as our new 7th grade class representatives.
From the Attendance Office
Some of you have received an email from the district notifying you that your child has an absence. The email indicates that you should call the attendance office to excuse this absence. This email is generic, and differs from our own school policy. Due to the overwhelming amount of phone calls, we prefer to have you email attendance directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our official attendance procedures:
When a student is arriving late to school – Please provide your student with a note or escort them and have them check in with the main office. If a student arrives late without parental excuse more than three times, they will be required to serve detention. We encourage you to get your student to school on time so they don’t miss valuable information. Even a few minutes late can affect the learning of the whole class.
When you need to check a student out of school – Please provide the student with a note the morning of the day they need to leave stating what time they will need be checked out. They need to bring their note to the office and a street pass will be issued to them – no further action is required on your part. If appointments are extremely short notice or emergencies occur, you may call the office to issue an urgent street pass, or you may come into the school and we will retrieve your child for you.
When a student is absent – Please email the school at email@example.com. You may email prior to upcoming absences, or after the fact. Please provide the student’s whole name.
From the Counseling Office
8th grade parents: It is time for your student’s College and Career Readiness Planning meeting (CCR). These 30-40 minute meetings are for parents, students, and counselors to sit down together to discuss their plans for high school and beyond. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend these meetings where options, opportunities, scholarships, goals and a 4-year high school plan are discussed. We want each Wasatch student to be College and Career ready! Scheduling a time is easy.
