Dear Parents/Guardians:
I’m pleased to report that the school year has started off smoothly. We’re excited to be back and learning new and exciting things at Arcadia Elementary. I just have a few things to convey to the community below. Please take a few minutes to read through them. Thank you in advance for your support and help.

You will need to search for the positions at Arcadia by clicking on the “Paraprofessionals and Instructional Assistants” link on the left side of the page. Submit your application and I will get in touch with you for an interview. Any help you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated!
Community Council Needs You!
We need four parents to volunteer to be on the Community Council for the next two years. The Community
Council is a body of parents and educators that meets once a month in the library at 3:45 p.m. for around 45 minutes to discuss school related topics and the spending of Land Trust funds. The candidacy declaration form is attached to this email. If you’re willing to be on the council, please fill out the form and give it to a secretary in the front office or you can email it to me at mgraham@graniteschools.org. We really need to fill these positions so that we can have a fully functioning council.
Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures
We are still having parents pick-up/drop-off students in the bus zone. Please only pick-up/drop-off students in the designated areas. We have three busses that come to our school. They need to be able to pull into the bus zone unencumbered by vehicles waiting for students.
Student Dress Code Reminder
From the Student Handbook: “Proper dress and grooming habits are essential for health, hygiene and safety. Students’ dress should be weather-appropriate, modest, clean, and safe. Students not in suitable attire may call home for a change of clothes or wear a reasonable shirt from the office. Clothing that may NOT be worn at school include the following:
- Spaghetti strap tops (straps of 1 inch or less) or tank tops
- Bare midriff or see-through tops
- Short shorts and short skirts (shorter than fingertip length)
- Sagging or baggy pants, riddled with rips or tears
- Clothing with inappropriate text or illustrations (tobacco, alcohol, drugs, sexual pictures, etc.)
- Flip flops and flimsly sandals (high rate of foot injuries)”
Please speak about the dress code to your students and make sure they are appropriately dressed for school every day.
Electronic Devices at School Reminder
Granite School District has established that electronic communication devices such as cell phones and tablets have the potential of disrupting the classroom activities when misused. Arcadia restricts all use of personal communication devices during school hours. Cell phones must be kept turned off in the student’s backpack or pocket during school hours. Communication devices used in violation of school rules will be confiscated and kept in the office until a parent retrieves them. Arcadia Elementary and Granite School District accept no responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, any personal electronic device.
Student Arrival at School Reminder
Students should arrive at school by 8:30 a.m. before the first bell at 8:35 a.m. The tardy bell is at 8:40 a.m. Students having breakfast will be allowed into the cafeteria at 8:10 a.m. Teachers take roll online and the automated system calls parents on tardies and absences, so plan ahead to avoid these.
You can review all school policies in the Student Handbok by going to the following link on the school website: https://schools.graniteschools.org/arcadia/student-handbook/
