Dear Parents/Guardians:
Fundraiser Update
Thank you to those of you who have helped your student(s) register for our Out of This World Readathon Fundraiser. We have currently raised over $5,000.00! Although it looks like I won’t be kissing a pig as we didn’t reach our $10,000.00 goal, I have challenged the teachers to kiss it if we reach $6,000.00 or more! The fundraiser ends tomorrow but we will still take donations up unti next Friday, the 18th. If you don’t want to bother registering online, you can always come to the school and donate in cash or check. We’re excited to use these funds for field trips, recess equipment, student incentives, parties, etc. 😊 Our readathon is tomorrow from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the classrooms and students have been encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a good book to read.
Winter/Holiday Needs
If your child needs a new coat, gloves, scarves, shoes, glasses or Christmas help, please email me at mgraham@graniteschools.org and I will coordinate with our social worker to get them to you before the holidays. Just a reminder that students need to wear a coat to school as it is getting really cold outside. Hoodies are fine for indoor comfort but they need something heavier to wear for recesses and walking from and to school.
Veteran’s Day Activities
After the readathon tomorrow, a veteran in the community will come to the school to present to our students in their classrooms. He will speak to them about what a veteran is and why it’s important to honor veterans and their service. After his presentation, teachers will teach a short lesson on Veteran’s Day themed curriculum. I encourage you to ask your student(s) when they get home what they learned about Veteran’s Day. If you are a veteran, the students and staff at Arcadia thank you for your service and hope you have a great day.
Early Out Day Tomorrow
Please remember that tomorrow is an early out day and school ends at 1:15 p.m. If you pick up your children, please try and pick them up on time.
Arcadia After School Choir
I am sending a parent permission letter home today with students who are interested in being in our After School Choir. Please sign it if you give them permission to join and have them bring it back tomorrow to give to their teacher. Mrs. Johnson will be teaching the choir starting on November 29th. The rehearsals will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. Students who join will receive a t-shirt to wear to performances. The choir will meet until the end of May. Their final performance will be at the 5th grade promotion assembly.
