1.) The second night of SEPs are tonight. If you haven’t signed up for a time, there is a chance that your child’s teacher has assigned you a time. Please contact him/her to find out your time. If that time is not convenient or possible, please work with the teacher to arrange an acceptable time. We really need all parents to attend parent/teacher conferences. If you aren’t able to make it this time, please contact your child’s teacher to find out how your student is progressing academically and behaviorally.
Say “Boo” to the Flu Clinic is tonight on 9/20 during SEPs. They will be in the gym like last year. If you would like your child to have a flu shot, this would be a great time to get it done.
2.) Tomorrow (Thursday) is an early out day. Students will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. Please plan ahead. We would like all students picked up when the dismissal bell rings.
3.) No school on Friday.
4.) Wild About Literacy Night is on 9/28. Hotdogs & hamburgers will be served from 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. Make & take activities and our safari scavenger hunt will run from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Please plan to attend to learn how to better support your child with his/her reading progress.
5.) Junior high and high school students are not allowed on campus until the dismissal bell rings at 3:20 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:15 p.m. on Fridays and early out days. A banner on the northwest side of the school informs these students of the school’s policy and what consequences they will have if they break it. Some older students have been swearing in front of parents and very young children waiting with them, fighting with each other, rapping on teachers’ windows while they are teaching, being disruptive and yelling epithets and using sexually inappropriate language. If you have a student in that age bracket who picks up a younger sibling, please remind him/her of the policy and be aware of the consequences if they violate it. I’m okay with them picking up brothers and sisters as long as they are appropriate and follow basic public norms. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns about this.
6.) Again, there is no parking, dropping off or picking up students in the bus zone 30 minutes before and after school. We have had cars hit by buses pulling into the bus zone. Frequent violators’ license plates will be taken down and will be submitted to Granite Police to be issued a traffic violation citation.
7.) I am taking open enrollment applications. If you know of parents who would like their students to attend our school, please have them call the office to obtain directions on how to fill out an open enrollment application.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback.
Best,
Matthew Graham, Principal, Arcadia Elementary School
