Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we finalize our enrollment numbers for the school year, I want to inform you about some necessary staffing adjustments we must implement to ensure the best possible learning environment for all students.
Unfortunately, our school did not qualify for an additional teacher based on our final enrollment numbers. As a result, we will need to combine our three 5th-grade classes into two. This will give each class an average of 32 students, which is reasonable but not ideal for upper-grade students. To make this transition as smooth as possible, the following changes will take place:
Mrs. Glad has previously only taught upper grades and will move to 4th grade.
Mrs. Johnson, who has extensive experience in the lower grades, will transition to kindergarten, where she will help reduce our class sizes from an average of 30 students per class to 20, a much more manageable and appropriate size for that age group.
These changes will allow us to better serve our youngest learners by providing more individualized attention and support. Having fewer students in each class will set our little ones up for success and alleviate the overwhelming burden on the kindergarten teachers.
The following timeline will guide the transition:
Tomorrow, students will be informed of the changes in their respective grades.
Thursday and Friday, Mrs. Johnson will begin moving to Room 6 to prepare for her new kindergarten class.
The third kindergarten class will officially begin on Monday, September 30th
Class lists for 5th grade and kindergarten will be finalized tomorrow, and parents will be notified of their child’s placement by Friday.
We understand that transitions can be challenging, but we are confident that these adjustments will create a more positive and effective learning experience for all our students. We appreciate your support and understanding during this time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely, Matthew Graham, Principal of Arcadia Elementary School; mgraham@graniteschools.org
