January 17, 2020School News Dear Parents and Students, Our school has partnered with Souper Bowl of Caring to create a unique opportunity for our students to join in a national movement of giving and serving. During the weeks of January 23-31, students will collect donations of money or canned goods. 100% of the collection will be donated to the Granite Education Foundation (GEF). This serves underprivileged families in our district. We are asking all parents to assist their children with participation by donating any of the following: □ Money- we will have a container in the office for any money students would like to bring Please Make Checks Payable to: Granite Education Foundation or donate online at: Granitekids.org. Donations can also be made at Chinese New Year by feeding the dragon. □ Canned Goods (2 cans=$1; please no expired food) While we are happy for any donations, we encourage you to donate money as the buying power of the foundation can go a lot further than can donations. As an incentive we are going to challenge the students to reach certain levels. For each level they will receive a fun reward. $1000- earn a “Hat Day” $1500- earn 5 extra minutes recess time for one recess $2000- Pajama Day with Readathon The goal of $2000 dollars is less than $3 a student or 6 cans. We realize not everyone is able to donate but we know this is a great cause and would like to encourage you to donate if you can. Thank you for your help, Calvin Smith PTA
