Gifted Testing is upon us. December 9th and 10th will be the testing window for grades 2nd through 6th. Testing is only appropriate for approximately the top 10-15% of a grade level. If your child is in the gifted cluster, they do not need to be tested every year. The only reason you may consider having them test again is if you would like them to be considered for the Magnet school placement.
6th graders who are performing above grade level who want to be considered for gifted placement in junior high should consider being tested. They should have no risk factors on their Dibels testing and a 4 on last year’s CRT scores. Testing is not a pre-requisite for 7th grade Honors placement.
