Dear Cottonwood Families,
I am excited to start the school year as your principal of Cottonwood Elementary. I have met some wonderful families already and am looking forward to meeting more of you! I feel extremely fortunate to be here and to have the amazing opportunity to work with all of you as partners in education!
A bit about me:
I started teaching in 2000 and taught 5th and 6th grade for 10 years before moving into administration. I loved the classroom and miss it almost every day. However, I do love being a principal and being able to interact with hundreds of children every day, not just a classroom of 30. I have been an assistant principal at both the junior high and elementary levels. I was the principal of Crestview Elementary for the past 8 years.
I am married and have two amazing children and two fur babies! My husband, Terry, and I have been married for 24 years! Tanner, my oldest, just graduated this past year from Jordan High School. He is my all-around sports child! His greatest love is basketball and has been playing since he was 4. He was a great asset to his high-school team over the past 4 years. He will be attending classes at both Salt Lake Community and the University of Utah this fall and we are looking forward to what the future holds for him. My daughter, Katie, will be starting 8th grade in the fall. She is extremely outgoing and loves to dance. She has been competitively dancing for the past 5 years and never stops moving! She loves to hang out with friends and never stops! These two kiddos keep me on my toes for sure! My fur babies are Rusty (mini labradoodle) and Bella (tabby cat).
I love to travel to Disneyland any chance I can! My dream job is to retire one day (many years from now) and lead the parade down Main Street! 😊
