Dear Cottonwood Family,
Happy New Year! I hope that 2022 was as wonderful for you as it was for me! As we begin another fabulous year, there are many activities that will continue to keep us hopping at Cottonwood!
It is important that we obtain an accurate count of all children qualifying for kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year as soon as possible. With the announcement of school closures (Millcreek, Twin Peaks, and Spring Lane), we do have families wanting to come to Cottonwood. To ensure we have enough teachers/staff, and not over-crowd classrooms, we MUST get this information ASAP before we can accept students on permit! If you have a child who will be five years of age ON or BEFORE September 1, 2023, the child qualifies for next year’s kindergarten. Please notify Kelly Franz in our office immediately if you have a qualifying child and plan on attending Cottonwood next year. If you have neighbors who have qualifying children, please share this information with them. 385-646-4798; kfranz@graniteschools.org. You can also print out and send in the form attached to our January newsletter.
It is also extremely important that we have an accurate count of returning students to Cottonwood for next year as soon as possible. If you are planning on moving sometime between now and the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year and will not be attending Cottonwood next year, please call our office immediately!
Please keep in mind that all students living outside of our school boundaries must fill out a USOE Standard Open Enrollment Application requesting to attend Cottonwood. A link to the application can be found on our website or by clicking here. New this year, all applications must be submitted electronically. The Open Enrollment period ends Friday, February 3rd.
Mr. Winter has officially arrived (actually, he’s been here for a while now). We are noticing a lot of students coming to school unprepared for the cold temperatures. We want students to be outside as much as possible! Our school policy states that students are kept inside if the air quality is poor and/or temperatures (actual or real-feel) are 20* or lower. Please be sure your students are dressed to enjoy the crisp air and snow! If you need help with warm winter clothing, please reach out to me. We can help!
As always, I do appreciate your continued support! I absolutely LOVE being the principal of Cottonwood. I feel extremely lucky to be able to spend my days with your children and their amazing and talented teachers! Cottonwood is a wonderful school.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with traffic before and after school and with student supervision during lunch recess. If your schedule allows, please let me know and we can set up a schedule! Thank you to ALL of our BoB volunteers who have signed up to help! Miss Jill is beyond thrilled to have a set of extra hands during library time each week!
We are looking forward to a wonderful second half of the school year with your children. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cooper
